Waypoint Spine is an orthopedic practice dedicated exclusively to evaluating and treating disorders of the cervical, thoracic, and lumbar spine.

Panel 1

Waypoint Spine — spine is all we do

Our sole interest is caring for the spine. Every person in our practice has the experience, understanding, and commitment necessary for the spine-specific care of our patients. Simply worded, Spine Is All We Do.

We believe that successful treatment can often be achieved non-surgically. If surgery is necessary, our patients receive expert care that emphasizes sound judgement, technical expertise, and compassion.

Our Services

Expert Evaluation & Diagnosis

At Waypoint Spine, we focus first on discovering the anatomic source of your back or neck pain. We will review your previous records and then perform a personal interview and thorough examination in order to arrive at a diagnosis. We then formulate a treatment plan that will best meet your goals.

Although our team is led by an orthopedic spine surgeon, we believe that surgery should be a last resort. We emphasize conservative treatment options, including:

  • medications, such as anti-inflammatories
  • physical therapy
  • chiropractic care
  • aquatic therapy
  • injection-based therapy, such as epidural injections
  • alternative modalities, such as acupuncture, tai chi, and yoga
Only when patients exhaust such conservative measures, or when urgent situations arise, is surgery recommended.

Spinal Imaging

Waypoint Spine offers convenient on-site X-ray and MRI imaging, featuring our new Wide Bore MRI, a system designed to help maximize comfort for patients. Learn more.

Physical Therapy

Our spine-specific physical therapist works one-on-one with patients, establishing treatment plans that may help avoid surgery. In the event that surgery is needed, our physical therapist works closely with the orthopedic spine surgeon to develop appropriate treatment for post-operative rehabilitation. Treatment plans may include individualized exercises in our physical therapy gym and/or additional therapy modalities, such as ultrasound and dry-needling. Our physical therapist can also perform a DSI Work Solutions Functional Capacity Assessment (FCA), also known as a Functional Capacity Evaluation (FCE), when the patient’s goal is to return to work. The FCE provides specific information to the patient and the employer relevant to the patient’s capability to safely perform his or her essential job functions.

Surgical Treatment

Our orthopedic spine surgeons are skilled in the latest options to treat the cervical, thoracic, and lumbar spine, as well as the sacroiliac joint. Most commonly performed procedures include:

  • microdiscectomies
  • laminectomies
  • spinal fusions
  • sacroiliac joint (or SI joint) fusions
  • disc replacements
  • minimally invasive techniques
  • motion preserving surgical techniques
  • kyphoplasty/vertebroplasty

While our team currently collaborates with outside neurologists when needed, Waypoint Spine anticipates future on-site neurology services, such as headache care and electromyography (EMG). For updates, check our website or call our office at (715) 544-1775.
